Wow I went on a deep DEEP trip again with platform choices.

Let me explain:

I did in-depth research on the relationship between C, Unix, POSIX and Linux, which was very interesting and clarifying. And it made some answers and questions surface.

Basically my choice for platform depends on where my priority rests: with C programming or with sustainable computing.

With
- C - I should include the UNIX philosophy and an Unix-like OS, since these are closely related, and with modern tools

With
- sustainable computing - I need to program C on Windows, for Windows & according to MS's standards, so that I have backward compatibility to run old software

In terms of freedom and own control, both would do, thanks to the source code of Windows XP having been leaked. But I can not combine the Unix path with using old software, since Unix-like OSes are not good at backward compatibility, which Windows XP is best at. But Windows XP is not the perfect environment for pure C. Because C was originally developed for Unix. C on Windows is adjusted C, adapted to Microsoft's needs.

SO I got to make a choice here, between 2 interesting but imperfect options, a choice which will make a significant difference for the outlook of my C path.
