I think all of these are quite different and I am a C fanboy :) I also like assembly language though.

Hey thanks for your suggestion, but I feel I need to start at the root, before moving on to any more modern variants. I am a green leaf and I want to understand it all from bottom to top, without skipping anything. I think I can only then understand the utility of, for example, the Zig language... So for me it is the old stuff: ISO C90, POSIX & GNU all the way.
