Okay, I am in the process of switching from Windows XP 32bit to Windows XP 64bit on my main device.

My idea is to
  • keep focusing on Windows XP as my object of study
  • install Windows XP 32bit + 4GB RAM on older computers, so that these are able to run both 32 and16 bit Windows applications
  • have Windows XP 64bi t on the computer that I use for studying and working, with 16GB RAM for smooth running a decent Unix-like distro, in a virtual machine, for C/C+ production, and for running work related apps, should any employer ask me to use such
Doing so I will achieve back- to forward compatibility, starting from Windows 16 bit, in the early nineties, all the way until current day 2025! That covers approximately 35 years of comuting!
