Choosing to use Linux automatically opens a box of Pandora / a vast can of worms: which distribution to use. Based on the wish to not use systemd I yesterday chose Devuan, which is Debian without systemd. But I studied systemd deeper and find that using or not using it is not a crucial question ethically and that I want to prioritize my education. This opens a whole range of other distro's and based on memory I prefer Fedora over Debian. I find Fedora being created with more care / precision and these are qualities I value in software. Fedora is also related to RHEL, which is a professional OS, catered at enterprises. Being familiar with the RHEL eco-system could enhance my profile as a professional programmer.
