So glad that I went for Linux, and also, more specifically, that I went with Fedora Workstation ...
Fedora workstation comes with a full Gnome desktop, where as I normally always use Linux with a light-weight desktop like xfce or lxqt, because those are faster, have zero bloat, and can be used on older machines. But oh boy, working on Fedora Workstation is an absolute breeze compared to all I have gone through before, always trying to do things the hard way!
What they do nice is separate the OS into two levels: the normal user level and the admin level, like MS Windows does, basically, making normal usage as simple and smooth as pie, with all complexity hidden behind an invisible wall. But once beyond that wall, the admin and dev tools, go way deeper than what one gets on MS Windows, and being able to use the command line with ease, fully integrated with my system, is like a dev's heaven. Not to speak of the total absence of Microsoft's commercial intrusions and spyware. The knowledge that I principally have full control, and that I have the option to look into (and alter) every old nook and cranny, is a dev"s wet dream!
