Obstacles I overcame while setting up my Amiga environment

1.  Loading the required ROM for the desires system
Amiga OSes depended on a physical component that was added to the machines hardware, WIth emulation these are virtual ROM's. I needed to choose and add the correct ROM.

2. Workbench not running properly due to allocating insufficient RAM
It is hard to know out of the back of my head how much RAM specific models need because the amounts are so small compared to modern sizes.

3. The wrong model: a4000 lacks backward compatibility
I first aimed at the Amiga a4000, which was the last classic Amiga, released around 1994, which was mainly used for office work and programming. I quickly and painfully found out that this most powerful desktop of the classic Amiga range is not at all compatible with the Amiga models that came before it.

I installed it and then started running a few games. Most did not work.

Then, after deliberation with Amiga developers, I chose the a1200, which the low-end brother of the a4000, which is compatible with the third generation of Amiga games (32bit) because this model, in contrary to the models that came before it, is also decent for developing. The Amiga a500 and a600 are nice for gaming and office work, but professional developing on it is a pain, and it was also not done by professionals, historically. Before the a1200 and a4000 came out they used to use other brands for programming and then port their programs over to the Amiga models. The a1200 really is multinational and, in the beginning of the nineties, Amiga programmers would create programs for the a500 and a600 on the a1200.

4. First used dynamic Hard Disks
Thee do not have a fixed size. Easy but less historically accurate, so after installing these I changed my mind and decided I want to use what WinUAE calls 'Hard Files'

5. Installed Hard Files of 4000MB
The emulated hardware allows Hard File hard disk images of up to 4GB technically, but the system can only read up to 1500MB properly, When the installer proclaimed that I could not install all fonts because my "disk is full" I had to do some research and I found that this is a false signaling because miscalculation due to the high data disk size.

6. Formatted Hard Files with a size of 1000MB instead
After this the installation went smoothly and I now have a fully functional a1200 system ready for programming and playing.
